Edit, cancel or delete an event
Change the details, call it off while keeping the record, or remove it for good.
How to do it
- Edit:
/event-edit event:<name>and pass only the fields that change. The rest keep their values. - Cancel:
/event-cancel event:<name> reason:<why>. The message turns red and loses its buttons, and everyone attending is DMed. - Delete:
/event-delete event:<name>, then confirm. The event and its message are gone. - All three are on the event’s page in the browser as well.
Worth knowing
- Moving the start time re-arms the reminder, so it fires again for the new time.
- Cancel tells people; delete does not. If anybody has signed up, cancel is almost always what you want — the confirmation page says so.
- On a repeating event, cancelling one occurrence still posts the next one.
stop_series:Trueends the series instead. - Moving an event to a different channel is not possible — the sign-up history belongs to the message. Cancel and recreate.
