Welcome new members
Greet somebody who joins, in a public channel, by DM, or both.
How to do it
- Go to 📋 Member log and scroll to Welcome message.
- Pick the channel the greeting is posted in — or leave it on Nowhere if you only want the DM.
- Tick Also send it as a DM to send the same text to the member directly.
- Write the text. Leave it empty to use the default.
- Save. The next person through the door gets it.
Worth knowing
- Four placeholders:
{member}pings them,{name}is their name as plain text,{server}is the server name and{member_count}is how many members there now are. Anything else is literal, so a stray{is harmless. - This is separate from the join log. It has its own channel, it does not need the log to be switched on, and it does not care about the Announce joins tick — the log is written for staff, the welcome for the member.
- It does use the same join event, so it needs the same Server Members Intent as the join log.
- A member with DMs closed simply does not get the DM. Nothing fails, and the channel message still goes out.
