Run the operation on a Google Sheet
Use an ORBAT-style spreadsheet as the roster, the way it worked before ORBATs existed.
How to do it
- Share the spreadsheet with the service account in
GOOGLE_CREDENTIALSas an Editor. - Lay the first tab out ORBAT-style: a squad name, then slot cells starting
1.or1-, each with[] <Insert Name>beside it. - Run
/setup-slots sheet_url:<link>. - Approving writes the member’s name and unit tag into the cell; clearing restores
[] <Insert Name>.
Worth knowing
- Only the first tab is read, and the operation is named after the spreadsheet unless you pass
name:. - A sheet with no
<Insert Name>markers has no free slots as far as the bot is concerned, whatever its columns are called. - Inserting a row moves every cell below it. Run
/syncafterwards to repair pending requests that now point at the wrong row. - If the sheet write fails on approval the request is rolled back, so the sheet and the board never disagree.
